Per a report by Android Central, Ready at Dawn Studios has been shut down by Meta-owned Oculus Studios. Android Central has confirmed this information through an internal memo sent to employees. After the studio experienced layoffs in 2023, it unfortunately was closed down in the end.
Ready at Dawn Studios is most recently known for its high-quality VR titles within the Echo franchise including Lone Echo, Echo Arena, Echo Combat, and Lone Echo II. Additionally, the studio has previously worked on a number of notable titles including The Order: 1886, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Okami, and more. For a full list of games worked on, you can check out their website at the time of writing.
Though VR has hit a bit of a wall in recent times, Ready at Dawn Studios has proven itself to be a high-quality VR developer, and the loss of the studio is a loss for VR gaming. Some of the other subsidiaries beneath Oculus Studios include Sanzaru Games (Asgard’s Wrath, Asgard’s Wrath 2), Within (Supernatural), Twisted Pixel Games (Path of the Warrior), Armature Studio (Resident Evil 4 VR port), and more.
According to the cited article, all employees will receive a severance similar to previous Meta layoffs. Noisy Pixel wishes the best to all those affected.
