NetEase Games, SoFun, and the visual novel company Nitro Plus announced that their new upcoming 2.5D action side scroller Rusty Rabbit will be released on September 24, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
PSN pre-orders will begin on June 4, 2024, at 8 AM PT/ 11 AM ET.
A new trailer was shared alongside this news, with the reveal that the protagonist, Stamp, is voiced by Takaya Kuroda in Japanese. For those unaware, Kuroda is the Japanese voice actor of Kiryu in the Like a Dragon / Yakuza series.
Rabbits have inherited this planet after humans abandoned it thousands of years ago. One such rabbit is Stamp, an “old and eccentric” one who pilots his mech called Junkster. However, Stamp eventually finds himself within the planet’s lower levels, causing him to discover “D-TAM; terminals for storing information.” Stamp intends to use this device to hopefully learn more about his missing daughter and the truth of the world.
The game’s concept and screenplay were written by Gen Urobuchi of Nitro Plus, known for his work on the Fate/Zero light novel, Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Psycho-Pass.
The gameplay involves exploring mazelike ruins and looting treasure, utilizing the mech’s impressive speed and mobility. The mech can then be upgraded with materials collected from the ruins. Stamp himself can also be enhanced by defeated enemies guarding treasures.
Other characters include Lucas, a barkeep at the town pub; Jed, the parts shop owner; Eliza, the waitress at the diner; and Amelia, the general store’s shopkeeper.
