Rainy Frog revealed they will publish the Rainy Night Creations-developed stealth action game Spy Drops on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. No release date has been shared at this time, but a gameplay trailer showcases the game’s unique, almost Metal Gear-esque gameplay. The game is heavily inspired by PS1-era Metal Gear Solid and features some pretty cool gameplay systems that mirror VR Missions.
The game will be playable during BitSummit Drift, which will take place in Kyotto from July 19 to July 21, 2024.
Spy Drops blends modern effects with the nostalgic charm of PS generation, low-polygon 3D stealth action. Players are thrust into randomized mission layouts, ensuring a unique and tense experience every time they play. As part of the elite Spy Drops team, players must navigate enemy infrastructure, gather intel, install spy devices, and rescue prisoners—all while questioning the true objectives of their mission in a world threatened by eco-terrorists aiming to erase digital records and send society back to the stone age.
In Spy Drops, players choose their equipment and strategy for each mission. From drones and hacking devices to sniper rifles and night vision goggles, the game offers a wide range of tools to help players complete their objectives. Stealth is crucial; players must avoid killing to gather intel from unconscious guards using the Dream Catcher. With real-time lighting and shadows, changing weather conditions, and environments like military bases, jungles, and deserts, the game provides a visually dynamic and immersive experience. Additionally, players can enjoy local head-to-head multiplayer in Spy Against Spy mode, adding a competitive edge to the stealth action.
